GOOD NEWS!!!
About 25 people,
including Town and Village officials and Red Church board members,
attended a press conference which was held at The Red Church on
Monday, October 30, 2006, to announce grants totaling over $180,000
for the restoration of the building. Tivoli Mayor Marcus J. Molinaro
and State Senator Steve Saland announced a $152, 860 grant from the
New York State Office ofParks, Recreation and Historic
Preservation's Environmental Protection Fund for the restoration of
the exterior structural envelope and repair and replacement of the
historic wrought iron fencing on Route 9G. An additional grant of
$30,000 from the New York Landmarks Conservancy Robert W. Wilson
Sacred Sites Challenge was also announced. These funds will be used
for the replacement of the roof and restoration of the cupola.
Matching funds raised on the local level are required for both of
these grants. We will continue our fund raising events and
appreciate all tax deductible donations. |
