The oldest (intact church/meeting building) in Dutchess
County peacefully sits on a hill in the Village of Tivoli.
Surrounded by generations of its saints, The Red Church majestically
awaits the arrival of an evening thunder storm, as the storm slowly
musters strength and color while approaching from the East. The old
meeting place now wears a skirt of braces, since two and half centuries
have made it very tired. A symbolic "cross" is framed in a pew
window by the outside braces. The seats are empty, the platform
quiet and the belfry silent. Patrons are no longer summoned for the
building is in need of major repairs. This flyer discusses
preserving a part of our local history so future others may also see and
touch "faith and freedom!"
